SIM Information Pakistan: Check by number, CNIC or PTA 668 — the complete 2026 guide.

Want to check SIM information by number, find every SIM registered on your CNIC, verify the ownership of the SIM in your hand, or catch an unauthorized SIM before it damages you? This is the definitive walkthrough — every official code, every operator’s process, every scam, and every 2026 regulation change, cross-checked against PTA, NADRA, and the Gazette of Pakistan.

How do I check SIM information?

  • Check every SIM on your CNIC: SMS your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) to 668. Reply arrives in ~30 seconds with a per-operator count. Cost ~ Rs. 2 + tax.
  • Free version, on-screen: open PTA’s cnic.sims.pk portal. Same result, zero cost, works from anywhere in the world.
  • Verify the SIM in your phone: send MNP to 667. Reply shows the network, activation date, and masked CNIC.
  • Instant free lookup by number: use our SIM Owner Details Checker — no signup, no data stored.
  • You cannot legally check a stranger’s identity from their number. That’s a crime under PECA 2016 Section 16.
01

What is SIM information?

SIM information means the identity record that ties every mobile SIM in Pakistan to a real human CNIC. Every time you buy and biometrically activate a SIM — Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCOM, or Onic — the record enters a government database called SVMS (Subscriber Verification Management System), maintained by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) together with NADRA. From that moment on, that SIM legally belongs to your CNIC.

So when someone searches “sim information,” they usually mean one of three things:

  • How many SIMs are registered on my CNIC — a self-audit.
  • Who owns this SIM in my hand — a verification.
  • Who owns this random number that called me — impossible legally for a stranger’s number, and this guide explains why.

Pakistan currently has 204.771 million active cellular subscribers as of end-February 2026, per PTA’s telecom indicators, spread across six licensed operators. Every one of those SIMs sits inside SVMS.

02

What SVMS actually stores against every SIM

SVMS is not a public phone book. It stores only what’s needed to prove a SIM is legally registered — nothing more. Here is the exact record behind every active connection in Pakistan.

FieldWhat it containsWhat a public check returns
Owner’s full nameExactly as printed on the CNICNever shown in a 668 or portal count
13-digit CNICThe identity anchor for every SIMYou enter it — the system never shows anyone else’s
Network operatorJazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCOM or OnicShown per-operator in the reply
Activation dateWhen biometric verification completedShown on cnic.sims.pk
Biometric statusVerified / Pending / Failed via NADRA MBVSChecked separately via operator BVS code
SIM statusActive / Blocked / Disowned + total countThe count every 668 reply is built from

Notice what SVMS deliberately withholds: full phone numbers, the owner’s name, and the address — even for the CNIC holder running the check. You only get a per-operator count. That minimalism is a privacy feature, not a bug. And it’s exactly why no legitimate “SIM database” or “Pak SIM Data” site can legally sell a stranger’s full details — the registry has no public window that exposes them.

If a “SIM database” site shows a stranger’s name or address, it isn’t SVMS — it’s a data leak.

10 official ways to check SIM information

Every method below is either operated by PTA directly, or authorized by PTA and executed through a licensed operator. Anything outside this list is a third-party guess — or worse.

SMS to 668 Fastest

Type your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes, no spaces) and send to 668. Reply arrives in about 30 seconds with a per-operator SIM count. Cost ~ Rs. 2 + tax. Works on any phone, no internet needed.

cnic.sims.pk Free

PTA’s own web portal. Enter your CNIC (or NICOP) + CAPTCHA → view the same per-operator count with activation dates on screen. Works globally, no VPN needed.

MNP to 667 1 SIM

Send MNP to 667 from the SIM you want to verify. Reply confirms that SIM’s registered network and a masked CNIC. Only works for the SIM physically in your device.

RAABTA WhatsApp New

Message 0315-0055055 on WhatsApp — PTA’s official digital assistant. Menu-driven SIM ownership check + IMEI verification + complaint filing. Free, works worldwide.

Sim.net.pk checker Free

Our SIM Owner Details Checker gives instant results by mobile number or CNIC. No signup. No data storage. Ideal when you want a quick browser-based check.

Own-number code Forgot?

Dial your network’s code from that SIM to see its own number. Jazz *99# · Zong *8# · Telenor *8888# · Ufone *780*3#. Free, works with zero balance.

BVS status code Biometric

Confirm your SIM is biometrically verified. Jazz — SMS CNIC to 6001. Telenor — SMS CNIC to 7751. Zong / Ufone — send V to 7911.

76367 network check

SMS “N <space> 03XXXXXXXXX” to 76367. The reply tells you which network currently serves that number — essential after MNP porting when the prefix misleads.

Operator app / helpline

My Jazz, My Zong, My Telenor, My Ufone, ONIC — every operator app shows your registration status after login. Helplines: Jazz 111, Zong 310, Telenor 345, Ufone 333, SCOM 355.

04

SIM information by number — the reverse-lookup truth

This is the most-searched query in the entire topic: “sim information by number.” The honest answer splits cleanly in two — and it matters that you understand both halves.

What you CAN legally do

  • Check every SIM on your own CNIC via 668 or cnic.sims.pk
  • Verify the SIM physically in your phone via MNP to 667
  • Identify which network serves a number via 76367
  • Use our free SIM Owner Details Checker for public network info
  • Ask an operator to confirm your own SIMs after identity verification
  • Report fraud, harassment, or unknown SIMs to PTA / NCCIA

What you CAN’T legally do

  • Get a stranger’s name from their phone number
  • Get a stranger’s CNIC from their phone number
  • Get a stranger’s address from their phone number
  • See a SIM’s live location from any public app
  • Buy “premium fresh SIM data” — it doesn’t exist
  • Trust any “SIM database” or “Pak SIM Data” site claiming otherwise

Why? Because looking up a stranger’s identity from a mobile number is an offence under PECA 2016 Section 16 — punishable by up to 3 years’ imprisonment and a fine up to Rs. 5,000,000. That penalty applies to the user of an illegal lookup service, not only its operator.

Only PTA, NCCIA, the courts, and law enforcement via due process can request subscriber data from operators. If a random number is harassing you, the correct move is not a lookup site — it’s a report to the NCCIA cyber helpline 1799.

Number prefixes — which operator owns which

Every Pakistani mobile number starts with 03 followed by a two-digit operator prefix. Here’s the full map of the originally-allocated prefixes.

Prefixes can lie after portingPakistan’s Mobile Number Portability (MNP) lets a user keep their number after switching networks. So a 0300 number may today sit on Zong, and a 0312 could be on Jazz. For any live number, treat the prefix as a guess and confirm the actual current network with 76367.

The 5 + 3 = 8 SIM limit per CNIC

Pakistan enforces a hard cap on how many SIMs a single CNIC can hold. It’s not 25, it’s not “5 per network,” and it wasn’t reduced to 6. The real number is 8 total — 5 voice SIMs plus 3 data-only SIMs, combined across every operator — set by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 5 November 2015 and enforced automatically inside SVMS.

Regular calling SIMs — Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCOM, Onic combined.

3 Data-only SIMs

MiFi, USB dongles, tablets — still count fully toward your cap.

The cap is enforced at activation. If your CNIC already holds 5 voice SIMs, the registry will refuse a 6th, at any operator, no exceptions. This is why SVMS is protective — an unauthorized SIM cannot simply be “added on top” indefinitely. At some point your count either matches what you actually use, or a gap appears that you can act on.

Special allocations

  • Foreign nationals / tourists: maximum 2 SIMs against a passport + valid visa, or against a POC card.
  • Businesses: unlimited (within reason) against a National Tax Number (NTN), separate from the personal 8-SIM cap.
  • Minors: a person under 18 cannot hold a SIM in their own name. Any minor’s SIM sits on a parent’s or guardian’s CNIC and counts toward that adult’s 8-limit.

Biometric (BVS) verification — how to check & fix

Every SIM in Pakistan must be biometrically verified via NADRA’s MBVS (Multi-Biometric Verification System) at activation. If that verification lapses — through system updates, long inactivity, or a franchise-level error — your SIM can be suspended without warning. Here’s how to confirm the status yourself.

OperatorHow to check BVS statusReply
JazzSMS your CNIC (no dashes) to 6001“Verified” or “Not Verified”
TelenorSMS your CNIC to 7751Verification status
ZongSend the letter V to 7911Status of that SIM

Got “Not Verified”?Visit your operator’s franchise with your original CNIC. Re-verification is free and typically takes 5 minutes. If fingerprints don’t match (common for elderly users or manual workers), NADRA can issue a facial-recognition fallback certificate.

Unauthorized SIM found — your 5-step action plan

You ran a 668 check and the count is higher than the SIMs you actually own. Don’t panic. Move fast, and follow this sequence.

  1. Screenshot the evidence. Capture the 668 reply or the cnic.sims.pk result with today’s date visible. This is your legal paper trail.
  2. Call the operator helpline. Jazz 111, Zong 310, Telenor 345, Ufone 333, SCOM 355. Ask them to flag the unrecognized SIM immediately. Get a reference number.
  3. Visit the operator franchise. Bring your original CNIC. Request “SIM Disowning” — the formal biometric process that removes the SIM from your CNIC. It’s free if the SIM was fraudulently issued.
  4. File a PTA complaint. Call PTA’s toll-free line 0800-55055 or use the PTA Complaint Management System (CMS) app. Keep every reference number.
  5. Secure your accounts. Change bank passwords, freeze mobile wallets (JazzCash, EasyPaisa), switch to app-based 2FA instead of SMS OTPs, and enable WhatsApp two-step verification with a separate PIN.
Since May 2026: 365-day disowning windowPTA extended the SIM-disowning window from 60 to 365 days for newly activated SIMs. Even so, file the complaint the same day you discover the unauthorized SIM — that dated record protects you throughout the process.

11

SIM registration — new, lost, transfer & disowning

Registering a new SIM

  1. Visit an authorized franchise or company-owned service centre with your original CNIC.
  2. Choose a number and package.
  3. Complete a biometric fingerprint scan against NADRA MBVS.
  4. Receive the SIM and wait for activation — usually within 30 minutes to 24 hours.
  5. Verify the registration by sending your CNIC to 668 within 24–48 hours.

Blocking a lost or stolen SIM

  1. Call your operator’s helpline immediately from any phone.
  2. Provide your CNIC and any details you remember about the number.
  3. Request an emergency block — this is instant.
  4. File a police FIR if theft is involved, especially before requesting a replacement.
  5. Reactivate by visiting a franchise with your original CNIC.

Transferring a SIM to another person

Both parties must visit the franchise together, both with original CNICs. The new owner completes biometric verification and the record moves to their CNIC. Note: a newly activated SIM cannot transfer until 365 days have passed from activation.

Disowning a SIM

Disowning permanently removes a SIM from your CNIC record after biometric verification. Free if the SIM was fraudulently issued. For voluntary disowning of a SIM you knowingly registered, PTA caps the fee at Rs. 200.

Third-party “SIM Data” & APK apps — the truth

Search “pak sim data,” “sim database online,” or “live tracker sim information” and Google returns dozens of sites and Android APKs promising instant access to any SIM’s owner details. Every single one of them is one of three things: fabricated, breach-recycled, or a data harvester. Here’s what’s actually happening.

“Pak SIM Data” websites Fake

SVMS has no public API. So no private site can legally pull live SIM owner details. These sites either invent results, replay old breach data, or harvest the CNICs and numbers you type in.

“SIM Database” search boxes Illegal

Any page offering “search sim database by number” is outside PTA’s system by definition. SVMS has no public search interface for anyone but the CNIC holder.

“Live Tracker” location apps Scam

No legal public live-location tracker exists for phone numbers in Pakistan. Apps promising it either steal contact and message data, or install spyware alongside a fake UI.

Paid “fresh SIM data 2026” Doesn’t exist

There is no premium tier of SIM information beyond what PTA provides free. Anyone charging for “fresh SIM data” is selling either fabrications or leaks. Buying it is illegal under PECA 2016 Section 16.

Malicious APKs Malware

APKs marketed as “Pak SIM Checker 2026” or “SIM Owner Details App,” distributed via WhatsApp or SMS links, often carry infostealer malware. Only install apps from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

CNIC-harvesting boxes Data theft

Every CNIC you enter into a third-party “search box” is added to a resale fraud database, then used later to activate fraudulent SIMs, mobile wallets, or scam accounts.

Where “fresh SIM data” actually comes from: old leaks. Confirmed investigations found millions of citizens’ records stolen from NADRA-linked offices over multiple years. That was a records theft, not a live SIM-database hack. Recycled data of exactly this kind powers most “fresh SIM data” sites — usually years stale, often invented outright.

eSIM in Pakistan — what changes for verification

eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM provisioned via QR code instead of a physical card. In Pakistan, Jazz, Zong, and Ufone currently offer eSIM on supported devices, plus the app-based Onic brand runs eSIM by default.

Device (IMEI) vs SIM information — DIRBS explained

People often confuse SIM registration with device registration. They are two separate systems.

  • SVMS tracks the SIM-to-CNIC link. Accessed via 668 and cnic.sims.pk.
  • DIRBS (Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System) tracks handsets by IMEI — the 15-digit unique identifier of every phone. Accessed via dirbs.pta.gov.pk.

Check your device’s DIRBS status

  1. Dial *#06# — your phone displays its 15-digit IMEI.
  2. SMS that IMEI to 8484.
  3. Reply confirms whether your device is PTA-approved, non-compliant, or blocked.
  4. If non-compliant, you can register it via the DIRBS portal or the PTA mobile app (fees apply for imported devices).

Active SIM scams in 2026 — the 8 patterns

SIM-related fraud has evolved sharply in 2026. Here are the patterns actively hitting Pakistani citizens right now, with the specific defence that stops each one.

Fake “bank employee” call

Caller has your CNIC from breach data, sounds official, creates urgency about “suspicious activity,” asks for OTP or PIN. Defence: no bank ever asks for an OTP by phone. Hang up. Call the number on your card.

SIM swap fraud

Attacker moves your number to their SIM using a forged CNIC photocopy. Your phone loses signal, their phone gets your OTPs. Defence: monthly 668 check, app-based 2FA, and treat sudden signal loss as an emergency.

“Free SIM” fingerprint scam

Unauthorized street points offer “free SIMs” — the fingerprint you give is silently used to register more SIMs on your CNIC. Defence: only give fingerprints at official franchise counters.

OTP interception

Scammer poses as a courier, bank officer, or PTA agent and asks you to read out “the code you just received.” Defence: your OTP is for your eyes only. Nobody ever needs to hear it.

Fake PTA / NADRA fee demand

Caller claims your CNIC will be blocked within minutes unless you pay via JazzCash. Defence: official PTA and NADRA complaints are always free. Hang up.

Fake “SIM Checker” APK

APKs claiming to be “Pak SIM Checker 2026,” carrying infostealer malware. Defence: only install apps from Google Play or App Store. Never install APKs from links.

WhatsApp takeover after SIM swap

Once an attacker controls your number, WhatsApp’s SMS verification moves your account to their device. Defence: enable WhatsApp two-step verification with a PIN independent of SMS.

Digital lending app harvesting

Instant-loan apps demanding contact and SIM permissions have been documented using that access for harassment. Defence: treat any lending app requesting SIM or contact-list access as a red flag.

Legal framework — PECA 2016, section by section

Checking your own SIM information is legal and encouraged. Accessing another person’s identity information without authorization is a serious offence under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016. Here are the sections that matter for SIM information.

SectionOffenceMaximum penalty
Section 3Unauthorized access to an information system or data3 months / Rs. 50,000 / both
Section 4Unauthorized copying or transmission of data6 months / Rs. 100,000 / both
Section 16Unauthorized use of identity information — the core “lookup” offence3 years / Rs. 5,000,000 / both
Section 17Unauthorized or fraudulent issuance of SIM cards3 years / Rs. 500,000 / both

The phrase doing the legal work here is “without authorisation.” You are fully authorized for your own identity — which is why every legitimate method in this guide is safe — and never authorized for a stranger’s. The law reaches the user of an illegal lookup service, not only its operator. If a third-party site returns a stranger’s details and you accepted them, you are on the wrong side of Section 16.

Special cases — overseas, deceased, minors & foreigners

Overseas Pakistanis

Open cnic.sims.pk from any country using your CNIC or NICOP — no Pakistani SIM needed. To disown a SIM from abroad, authorize a trusted family member in Pakistan with a notarized authority letter, since disowning itself requires in-person biometric verification.

A deceased relative’s SIMs

Take the death certificate, the deceased’s CNIC, your own CNIC, and a NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC) to each operator’s franchise. Block, transfer, or disown the SIMs promptly — criminals actively target deceased people’s CNICs for reactivation fraud. Separately, cancel the CNIC at NADRA.

SIMs for minors

A person under 18 cannot hold a SIM in their own name. Any SIM used by a minor is registered on a parent’s or guardian’s CNIC and counts toward that adult’s 8-SIM limit — until the child turns 18, gets their own CNIC, and the SIM is formally transferred.

Foreign nationals & tourists

Visitors may register up to 2 SIMs against a valid passport and visa, or against a POC card. SIM validity is tied to the length of the stay. Registration must happen at an operator’s official service centre — never a roadside stall.

Businesses (NTN-registered)

Companies register connections against a National Tax Number rather than a personal CNIC. These sit outside the personal 8-SIM cap entirely, which is how a business can legitimately hold many active lines.

SIM information — frequently asked questions

How do I check SIM information in Pakistan?

SMS your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) to 668 for a per-operator count, or open cnic.sims.pk for the same check free on screen. For the SIM in your hand, send MNP to 667. For a fast browser-based lookup, use our free SIM Owner Details Checker.

How can I check SIM information by number?

You can identify a number’s current network by SMS-ing “N <space> 03XXXXXXXXX” to 76367. For the SIM physically in your hand, send MNP to 667 to get the registered network and masked CNIC. You cannot legally look up a stranger’s identity from their number — that’s an offence under PECA 2016 Section 16.

Is the 668 SIM check free?

Not quite — the SMS costs about Rs. 2 including tax. The genuinely free equivalent is cnic.sims.pk, which returns the same per-operator SIM count on screen.

How many SIMs can be registered on one CNIC?

Maximum 8 — 5 voice SIMs plus 3 data-only SIMs, combined across all six operators. This was set by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 5 November 2015 and is enforced automatically inside SVMS.

What is the difference between 668 and 667?

668 shows every SIM registered on your CNIC across all networks. 667 verifies only the single SIM physically inserted in your phone (send MNP to 667). Use 668 for a full audit, 667 for a single-SIM confirmation.

What is SVMS?

SVMS — Subscriber Verification Management System — is PTA’s backend registry linking every biometrically verified SIM to a CNIC. It powers both the 668 SMS check and the cnic.sims.pk portal. There is no separate “sim database” — SVMS is the entire system.

What is cnic.sims.pk and is it safe?

cnic.sims.pk is PTA’s official free web portal for checking SIMs registered on your CNIC or NICOP. Yes, it is safe. It stores nothing beyond the query and is accessible from any country.

How do I find my own mobile number for free?

Dial your network’s own-number code from that SIM: Jazz *99#, Zong *8#, Telenor *8888#, Ufone *780*3#. These work with zero balance.

Are “Pak SIM Data” or “SIM Database” sites real?

No. PTA’s SVMS registry has no public feed, so no private site can legally pull live SIM owner details. These sites either display fabricated results, recycle old breach data, or harvest the CNICs and numbers you type in. Using them is illegal under PECA 2016 Section 16.

Can I track a SIM’s live location?

Not through any legal public tool. Apps promising live SIM tracking are scams — they typically install spyware or steal contact data. Genuine location data is available only to law enforcement through formal legal process.

How do I check the biometric verification status of my SIM?

Jazz: SMS your CNIC to 6001. Telenor: SMS your CNIC to 7751. Zong / Ufone: send V to 7911. “Not Verified” means visit the operator’s franchise with your original CNIC for a free re-scan.

What should I do if an unknown SIM is registered on my CNIC?

Screenshot the 668 or cnic.sims.pk result with today’s date, call the operator’s helpline to flag it, visit the franchise with your original CNIC to request “SIM Disowning,” file a PTA complaint at 0800-55055, and secure your bank and wallet accounts.

How do I block a lost or stolen SIM?

Call your operator’s helpline from any phone: Jazz 111, Zong 310, Telenor 345, Ufone 333, SCOM 355. Ask for an emergency block — it’s instant. File a police FIR if theft is suspected.

What’s the SIM disowning fee?

Free if the SIM was fraudulently issued. For voluntary disowning of a SIM you knowingly registered, PTA caps the fee at Rs. 200 (since 1 January 2024).

Can I check my SIMs from abroad?

Yes. cnic.sims.pk works from any country using your CNIC or NICOP — no Pakistani SIM required. This is the standard method for overseas Pakistanis.

How does SIM swap fraud work?

An attacker uses a forged CNIC copy to have your number transferred to their SIM. Your phone loses signal completely and your OTPs go to them. Defence: monthly 668 checks, app-based 2FA (not SMS), and immediate action at the first sign of unexplained signal loss.

Which networks offer eSIM in Pakistan?

Jazz, Zong, and Ufone offer eSIM on supported devices. Onic is a digital-only brand that runs on eSIM by default. Activation follows the same biometric process as physical SIMs.

Is checking SIM information legal in Pakistan?

Yes — completely legal and encouraged for your own CNIC through 668, cnic.sims.pk, and 667. Accessing another person’s identity information without authorization is an offence under PECA 2016 Section 16 — up to 3 years’ imprisonment and a fine up to Rs. 5,000,000.

Can a business register more than 8 SIMs?

Yes. Businesses register connections against their NTN (National Tax Number), separately from the personal 8-SIM cap. That’s how a company can legitimately hold many active lines.

How many SIMs can a foreigner or tourist register?

Up to 2 SIMs against a valid passport and visa, or against a POC card, registered at an operator’s official service centre. SIM validity is tied to the length of stay.

What’s the difference between SVMS and DIRBS?

SVMS tracks the SIM-to-CNIC link (accessed via 668 and cnic.sims.pk). DIRBS tracks handsets by IMEI (accessed via dirbs.pta.gov.pk). They are two separate PTA systems solving two separate problems — SIM identity versus device compliance.

How often should I check my SIM information?

At least once a month via 668 or cnic.sims.pk. It takes under a minute and it’s the cheapest identity defence available in Pakistan. Screenshot the reply with the date visible — that dated record is your legal paper trail if anything goes wrong.

Does Truecaller show official SIM information?

No. Truecaller is crowd-sourced caller-ID data — contributed by other users — not PTA’s SVMS registry. It’s useful for screening spam calls but is not proof of legal SIM registration, and it should never be treated as an official source.

What is RAABTA and how do I use it?

RAABTA is PTA’s official WhatsApp assistant at 0315-0055055. Message it to check your SIM ownership, verify your device IMEI, or file complaints — all menu-driven, free, and available worldwide.
